Chapter 12
Complete a nagging task. If you've learned anything about me through previous chapters and journals, you may know this could be a never-ending goal for me.I ALWAYS stay packed to the brim with nagging tasks. Finishing my new Oprah magazine, or starting it for that matter. Taking out chicken to thaw for dinner later. Going to buy a "For Sale" sign for my car. Searching online for coupons or deal-breaker sales. Doing the laundry! I drive myself insane half the time by assigning myself ridiculous tasks with an unrealistic time limit in which to finish it...which leads to me doing nothing and being extremely unproductive.
Well, my newest task is to create a 5-year goal plan. The catch is, I'm only allowed to assign myself TWO THINGS per year to accomplish. I want to jump off a bridge figuratively speaking as I type this. TWO THINGS?! How in the world am I to soothe my Type-A personality with only approaching two things at a time? My hope is that by setting this pace for myself, I will take more time for wellness which will counteractively speed up my healing process from burnout to the point where I am able and energized to accomplish well above that. But for now I will fool myself into thinking that accomplishing 2 tasks/yr for the next 5 years will be more than enough. I guess accomplishing 10 important-to-me tasks in 5 years isn't too shabby when I add it all up! Starting in July 2011 I will begin my new approach to success, my way.
Year 1
a. Write a children's book
b. Get the hang of couponing
Year 2
a. Record one piano album (anything I want!)
b. Be completely debt-free
Year 3
a. Write a really awesome grant
b. Use the grant to go study/play music internationally with a chamber ensemble
Year 4
a. Move to a new state, if God wills it
b. Buy a house
Year 5
a. Compete in a piano competition (or 2)
b. Teach piano for a summer in Africa and learn about music from the Africans
Eventually, my life goals include:
*establishing a foundation for music education for children and women rescued from sex trafficking
*writing and performing music that comes from the heart and is simply understood
*have the opportunity to share my heart in an on-screen experience
*create the opportunity to have coffee and chat about life with Oprah, my mentor
*provide myself and my family with fantastic opportunities to see the amazing world we live in
*to be happy and to lead others into happiness through speaking, performing, and fellowshipping
*to fulfill my purpose and therefore be perfect
